Talmyn has not previously published press releases as a distinct content category. Starting today, the company is introducing a dedicated Press Releases section and a formal set of rules governing what runs in it.
Why a separate category
Talmyn’s reporting and its own company announcements are two different kinds of content, and the company says conflating them would undermine the independence described in its existing Editorial Standards. Every press release, whether it concerns Talmyn’s own business or is issued on behalf of a partner, will now be published under a clearly labeled Press Releases category, visually and structurally distinct from independent articles, news coverage, and analysis.
The actual standards
Three rules apply to every press release Talmyn publishes going forward. First, factual claims, funding figures, dates, and quotes are verified before publication to the same standard described in How Talmyn Verifies Company Facts, whether the subject is Talmyn itself or an outside company. Second, a press release is never presented as independent reporting or analysis. It is labeled as a company announcement, and any editorial commentary on the same topic is published separately, under Talmyn’s normal reporting standards. Third, if a press release later requires a correction, it is handled through the same public Corrections Policy that governs every other piece of Talmyn content, rather than being quietly edited or removed.
What this changes going forward
Talmyn expects to use this new category for its own company news, including funding, hiring, and policy announcements, and says it may extend the same category to press releases issued on behalf of Content Partners or advertisers in the future, always under the same disclosure and verification standard.
